I think Lance is an average F1 driver, but could definitely win races and championships in another series.

The plan is to run Liam Lawson in the VCARB against Yuki for the remaining races, to evaluate if he can replace Perez in the RedBull for 2025.

If he crushes Yuki then he's the guy and he switches with Perez. If he doesn't then he stays VCARB for 2025 and Perez stays at RedBull.

It's not surprising. Merc probably plan for Max in '26, whilst Red Bull picking up Russell in place of him makes sense. They would need a #1 and most of them if not all are tied up for '25 and '26 atp.
