You could see in Q1 that Liam had another better set up. He was third!!

I'm surprised by the expressed opinions that the US GP could go 2 stop. Even Croft in one of his worst moments and reminiscent of the late Murray Walker talked about the possibility of a one stopper - just before halfway as front runners were pitting to go onto hards!!! I think sometimes the delta times the race engineers set are conservative - the McLarens both dropped their lap times late into their first stint and went longer than anticipated. These things are more likely to occur on Sprint weekends when setup time is severely reduced and there is a general lack of information. I thought Liam looked slightly quicker from the get go, then significantly quicker as the setup took a large step. I didn't hear all the driver radio but didn't Yuki lose his rag to his engineer again?HPD wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 12:25 amI think the team gives a target time to the driver. When the team realised that the race was a 1-stop race, they tried to go slow to get to the end. Obviously the worst possible strategy. Gasly and Tsunoda crashed, both with the same strategy.
Correct me if I'm wrong
I was surprised to hear that sentiment as the leading drivers all made their projected one stop lap targets on the mediums with ease. Was it really just that some of the midfield drivers (on mediums) got too feisty battling one another?
