I was going to post this earlier but couldn't find the words... first class human being, brimming with enthusiasm and lived every minute of his life.

It's hard to swallow, I guess we all thought he was immortal. RIP Steve, the world's a poorer place without you.

I woke up this morning and saw it on the news. Tragic, and so ironic considering stingray's arent usually though of as THAT aggressive. A cheerful man with bucket loads of enthusiasm, and he will be missed.

tbh i wouldn't be suprised if he did run with some sort of homage to Steve, even if its just a black armband or something. (Then again that big white space on the williams' sidepod is free for a croc!)

Its a same he had died as he was a very cheerful bloke.

However stingrays are frightened very easily and will swim away at the first sign of danger, they have to be very pissed off before they use there barbed stinger which is coated in venom. If it had struck him anyhwere else he would have survived.

He must have pushed his luck to far.

You guys said it all. Thanks Steve for sharing so much of your wonderful world with so many. Mother Nature has certainly lost one of her greatest allies.

Really sad news. He could have touched it. Really strange accident, as stingrays barbs have venom, but (at least the ones I know) the venom doesn't kill you: it makes the healing of the wound a long affair, but that's it.

Just to clarify, it wasn't the venom that killed him, unfortunately the 20cm barb that stabbed him hit him in the heart.

It just goes to show you.
It is appointed unto man once to die, then the judgment.
When its your time its your time

Wait a minute, I think its the stingray's barb hit his heart and then he was killed instantly.
