Now we'll have to figure out how to get around the new tougher tests
This is just pointless. This is the final year of the ground effect cars and they want to implement it in almost the 2nd half of the season? I wonder if it's a good idea for teams to start developing a Plan B front wing in case the TD comes into action, because a new design would be ready for use in April/May.
I also thought the introduction in May was strange, too late and unreasonable. It rly looks like they are leaving themselves the possibility of influencing the balance of power if it does not suit them. Seems really important to start the season well, ideally not alone.r85 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 8:09 pmThis is just pointless. Probably because it takes time to develop and create new wing that can pass new TDr85 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 8:09 pmThis is just pointless. But remember how quickly they banned mini drs? or front wings to Aston in 23? or in 21 they didn't wait long.
The problem has been brought to their attention since early in the 2024 season. By midseason they said, "Welp, we just figure we're not gonna do anything", because it benefited the championship to keep Mclaren strong at the time. Then later in the season they declared they wouldn't be doing anything about it for the 2025 season, probably in the misguided hope that they could recreate the 'close' 2024 season. This made it sound like the end of it, and that teams were safe to develop their own flexi wings and catch up properly or even optimize the car design in general around it.F1NAC wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 10:02 pmProbably because it takes time to develop and create new wing that can pass new TDr85 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 8:09 pmThis is just pointless. I can accept losing a title because of the team's failures, whether that's the car or the drivers. But I'll be livid if it's because of something like this putting them on the back foot for development.
So if a team is dominant they will probably sanbag till MayChuckjr wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:27 amThey are forcing the wing change like this to ensure if there is a dominant team, the directive could, and likely would, end their dominance. It's to create drama, storylines, more competition, and the like. It's forced spectical takes away from F1's integrity.
