Ideal F1 games.

I keep seeing all these modern F1 games, and no doubt they're brilliant, but BATracer has just introduced its 1986 F1 carset, and it made me think, why don't Codemasters or Geoff Cammonds or whoever make a 1980s turbo series? I would definetly buy it, esspecially if it spanned several seasons and had contracts etc. Imagine racing a Lotus against Senna, or beating Brundle in his Tyrell round Rio de Janiro? Adjustable boost pressures etc would be essential, and a glimpse of some of the great managers in the pitlane (Chapman, Clark, Ken Tyrell, Ecclestone etc) would be superb. I can dream I suppose.

Geoff Crammond is amazing and if you get CSM for it to install the mods you can get the 2006 mod and theres one for the 1979 season then all you have to do is look about to find the tracks and then you can run 2006,1979,1996,2000 and 2005 GP2 and thatsjust the mods i have for it or you can just run the cars on the tracks already in the game
Oh and Batracer is really good I'm in my third season now

i want the people who made GTR and GTR 2 to make an f1 game cus it would be great. I hate all the Arcadie ones you get for the play station and stuff like that, u need a wheel to pay a proper race game not on a controler.
I played 2 seasons on bat racer, me and my house mate, dominated the second season, we won the constructors by a clear 100 points. I found it got abit boring and long winded in the end.
I want a F1 management game again, where you develop stuff keep your drivers happy. Oh and Cheat, then clame ignorance when you get caught. hahahaha

Theres Grand Prix manager 2 it's fairly old but I'm sure theres some mods to update it. Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix 4 more of a si racer than GTR 2 so you might like that especially with what I wrote above with all the mods and stuff

If you download CSM for it I don't know where to get it from unfortunatly but a goole search should turn it up. The 2006 mod looks stunning even better than screenies I've seen of a hi:def PS3 game. The 1979 mod is good s well

I played Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix 4 for a few years,
until I got F1 2002.
GP 4 is really a great game and gives you a really good KI
and great races.
but on the technical site is F1 2002 better.
For a few days now I play F1 Challenge 99-02.
And i must say it's really good.
It has the bug fixed from F1 2002 and the best damage model.
And furthermore you can download the most mods
tracks and stuff like that.
A point I missed at Grand Prix 4, where I didn't really find something
to download.
Cool is if you crash into something.
The damage model is the best I have ever seen.
If you tough something whit your wheel you don't simply loose it.
You got your suspension damaged a bit as in reallitiy,
you can drive further but the car pusses to one side and
the tires are pointing in other directions.
Does anybody else play this game so we can meet on
multiplayer and drive against each other?

Hi Tom - I can't speak for the other games mentioned; but it sounds to me like rFactor woould suit you.
http://www.rfactor.net/
ISI the developers have teamed up with Sauber BMW to produce a simulator -
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cf ... auber%20F1
Surely if it's good enough for Sauber BMW to endorse..........
Benefits? Very good physics and graphics engine. Comes with some good default stuff.
A word on the physics engine and the way the game works. The physics engine lets the mod developer use a fantastic amount of data to create almost any car you could conceive. Almost all relevant parameters are there, tyre slip curves, heat wear, brake wear, engine wear, inertia on gears, CoFG MOI - gear change speed, suspension geometry.........the list just goes on and on. The gameplay allows modders to set rules, which can apply to a series (i.e. F1 formation laps etc.)
Lots of mods to download.
Loads of tracks to get your hands on.
On line racing is unbelievable fun........

Try it one day
Downside - in itself it is not an F1 game, so if you want something in a box with F1 written over it this is not for you.
Some of the mods are rubbish - but frankly if you don't like something, just delete from your hard-drive.
For you - there is F1 2005 released -
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=F1%202005
F1 1979 Beta release (but very very good) -
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/series_de ... =F1%201979
and F1 1986 in development -
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=F1%201986
Oh...........and due to the modder nature of the this you can download the Nordschleife and run a modern F1 car there (just hang onto your hat!). BTW - The F1 1979 cars are great fun at Nurby........

Yeah F1 games have to be played with a wheel, and preferably with a half decent computer setup.
GP4 still holds its own, especially with all the new tracks becoming available. There is a 1986 and 1988 mod around I think. Best look here
http://www.gp4italia.org
rFactor is the new kid on the block and with the amount of mods available for it, F1 will probably come 2nd to such things as the V8 and ETCC mods once you have played them online.
As for F1 management games, well Grand Prix Manager 2 isnt bad and its easily updatable. EA sports version isnt too good, too many bugs and very little change throughout seasons. BUT there is hope on the horizon, albeit it is taking an age to get completed but does look the part. F1CM looks to be the new answer head over to

Using wheel simulators in any racing game especially F1 games is a waste of money and it is very inaccurate. Other than that, I love all playstation2 F1 games. The latest one just came out. Finally, for my ideal F1 game is to have me in it...(read below)

They all sound good, but older turbo cars would be the best.
Also does anyone still have TOCA race driver/Pro driver by Codemasters. I know its old but its all I can afford at the moment, so if you want an on-line game PM me.
