It's the handlebar mustache of F1. Just my opinion but it's been a while since we've seen any inovative aero that worked from Williams. I don't think this is it. Maybe they need to tune up the wind tunnel. Remember the walrus front end?
I can say that Williams seemed to have noticed every little add on this year .. very curvy sidepods, winglets everywhere, and some swoppy looking barge boards too. The front brake ducts look interesting .. like they are picking up air from beneath the wing .. but that might not be a new thing .. I just noticed it though.

I liked the"walrus" front wing something a bit different however I think last /this seasons (depending on how you see it) looks very draggy and not very efficient

i think i it is just as same renault during brazil06 and suzuka06. but the 'moustache' on nosecone looks more prominent than the renault...are they flexible as ferrari front wings?

those brake ducts are enormous ! on other teams they dont even compare to that size, they're huge "tube" like ducts that come all the way out and almost come in contact with the front wing, wow, i dont know if brake ducts that big are necessary, or of use during testing since its winter and its raining a lot in jerez,and most of europe i guess(the winter part),
to be honest i dont know why Williams comes up with these outrageous aero developments,like the "towers" on the front part of the car,remember? when its almost obvious and guaranteed that the FIA is not going to be supportive,and most of the time they probably dont make that much of a difference as they should,
and regarding to the handle bar mustache, i think it looks more like a sea gull flying straight at you,a really fat and blue sea gull that is,
btw, who's driving ?
and those intermediate tyres look pretty cool,it makes the car look lot "tougher"

It looks to me that this front wing has more frontal area and would generate quite a bit more downforce than for example at Renault or Ferrari. Especially the exra flaps appear to be designed to generate more downforce than both top teams I mentioaned.
I'm not sure why they would do that, but thay may well be suffering some grip problems on the front tyres because of the front suspension geometry.
Also, for those who dare to compare this front wing with Renault's, you must not forget that the centre part of the wing is wider and flatter at Renault.

I'm sure I've seen those brake ducts during the season, but I'm not sure how big they were!
I'm hoping to see Williams go back to the top three again and McLaren to the first place...
Will them?

It's quite possible that the brake ducts are more designed for downforce than brake if you know what I mean. It's been a subtle detail that F1 teams have been doing for a while. Hell, Ferrari even put a wing on their uprights (that have nothing to do with brake cooling) to generate downforce in the last few races in '06. After that I would imagine that the aero departments have been quite busy milking all the downforce possible in relation to the uprights and "brake ducts".

Maybe someone can answer this for me. Where the upper 'handlebar moustache' elements of the wing attach to the nose, the shape would seem to me to be one that would actually produce a small amount of lift especially on a nose as narrow as the williams where the main section is not contributing.
Would these therefore be designed as flow conditioners to clean up the disrupted air from the spoon section?

I too noticed this. But upon further examination of the top view pic & front view pic it seems the point of attachment to nose
a) is quite narrow & not wide enough to produce any substantial lift
b) has zero angle of attack (neutral) to oncoming air
Therefore they've just kept the attachment point away & off the wing below to remove any air flow disruption there.

Yes, the ducts are bigger compared to others, but they may be running "hot weather Auzzie ducts" while rivals are running "cool weather" ducts. The ducts seem to be pointed down towards the corner of the front wing to capture air vortecies produced there. Not sure if my terms are correct.
At least they are trying different aero solutions...unlike conservative route like Toyota. It'd say it's similar to a driver trying to improve position, pushing the limits of car & wiping out once in a while as opposed to playing it safe to finish where he is.
