Obviously a product of the CFD they have invested so heavily in??

It must just clean up the airflow around the cockpit... I think it looks like a nice innovative winglet as winglets go?!

That looks superb..

BMW Sauber have always been innovative though - remember the "twin towers" from 06 they tried to run at Magny Cours?

Funny how early last year BMW commented that the new spec/control tyre negated the need for the influence of these wings. Wasn't long before they put theirs back on then sprouted new ones up the front..

Every new F1 design I see from years to now it makes me think how can that be better than this:

I dont fully understand aerodynamics (only theory I learnt in Uni) but each of those wings add drag and they are multiplied x 30!

What would happen if you design a "cleaner" car and let downforce be generated by wings? Please somebody explain me :!:
My bigger problem is maybe I tend to see aero like a mechanical device: it has efficiency: 30 devices with 90% eff. each would be = 0.9*30= 27% efficient. Maybe it does not work like that in aero :?:

The way I understand it:

most of these 'extras' are used to direct the air to the places where they need it most (underbody, wings, cooling). And the wings aren't really located where the teams would want, but rather where the regulations permit.

Those wings must not do too much. Heidfeld was slower in the F1.08 today than Asmer in the F1.07.

This is about the 4th time that an idea I've been toying with when drawing F1 cars has popped up in reality!

1st Ferrari had a w profile in its rear wing
2nd Red Bull rear wing cut out
3rd BMW Sauber T-Wings=Mid wings
4th these new wings

Mine were quite a bit more agressive I'll try find a picture to post

This is REALLY crazy!

BTW I like the wings.
