Engine is a good starting point.
An engine with a center power take. This seems pretty unique, in F1 terms.

And this engine is, by means of it's own failure, and subsequent V10 development, the grandfather of the Porsche Carrera GT engine.

An F1 car with road relevance.

I'm taking it to mean that the driving rotation from engine to transmission is taken from the middle of the crankshaft rather than (as is usually the case) the back.

It should correctly be called "power take off".
Normally it is done in order to reduce torsional vibration of the crankshaft.

And by the way, the FA91 was the last car to switch engine manufacturers during the season.

I think a lot more of cars had such chassis.

Hint: Not necessarily relating to hardware.

Both cars won the WDC with only 1 win ?

Edit- after looking just to check they did in fact win just 1 race, it turns out they both won that 1 race in France.

Right! Mike Hawthorn in the Ferrari 246 and Keke Rosberg in the Williams FW08.

Edit: Huge mistake!
