FRONT WING SPAIN - PART B
Image

Another little difference is the wing rear edge (No 5) which is less curvy than Bahrain . Also the upper bridged profile has a small cut near the endplates (No 6)

SIDEPOD INLETS

Mc Laren revised also the sidepod inlets before the Australian GP ,

The bottom edge of the sidepod's air inlets are much higher than before so as to provide the radiators with cleaner airflow and reduce the effect of turbulence generated by the front axle and suspension.

Surprisingly they follow the same path as last year with this development of sidepods. I wonder why did they lowered (again) the inlet for early 2008 in the first place.

ENGINE - TURKEY

The Mercedes engine is covered by extended thin gold foils , to reduce heat problems . This maybe the reason for using limited cooling shark gills (or any at all ) compared to Ferrari

Hey there Bar555! I love your posts regarding technical development by different teams. By the way, do you have any idea why teams, specifically Mclaren cover their sidepod chimneys? Is there an advantage doing so? AFAIK, F1 engines need all the ventilation they can get for more reliability. Please enlighten me. Thanks so much! :D

The more cooling outlets the car has the more drag it creates, this slows the car in a straight-line. Thus the teams carefully balance cooling with drag, sometimes they get it wrong on one side or the other.
