GEARBOX USAGE - ITALY
Image

Jenson Button had a new gearbox for this race while Rubens Barrichello used the same gearbox he had in Spa which was externally partially damaged by fire .

Both the slit series (1) on the endplates were gone and the wing's flap chord was dramatically reduced in favor of top speed . The tested version, used in Spa free practices sessions , featured a new system (2) to adjust the main plane and flap together which was retained in Monza’s spec wing

Thanks for showing that. It was killing me before where I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I had thought I saw a hole, but you can't really see it from certain angles, and that it is only on one side too.

New parts at Interlagos

- Barge boards: The upper edge of the previous version was flat for half its length, before sloping away towards the rear. Now the upper edge drops away in distinct steps, with the previous horizontal fin at the front having been removed. Used by Ferrari couple years ago.

Image

- improved diffuser - notice longer (downwards) endplate on the right side in Brazil (from Jenson Button's car)

Image

- they also tested new front wing (but was not used during the race)

Image

New sponsor stickers: Itaipava, Mapfre, Banco de Brasil, TNT, Gallactic.

The diffuser used in Brazil was similar to the one used in Singapore . That diffuser ( compared to the Monza version ) had larger vertical fences close to the rear wheels and a modified central channel

What about racing (I haven't spotted that in practices or qualification) version of Jenson's car diffuser (see official picture from BrawnGP website - taken as he passes pitwall on his final lap becoming champion)?

Image

It seems like there is larger endplate (just) on the right side of diffuser - asymmetric design. Or is it just kind of eye deception?
