Hi there

First of all I am honored to be a member of this website.
I am a student of mechanical engineering in Ljubljana (SLO-EU).
My profession branch are ICE's (internal combustion engines),and I have never seen a site with so many usefull info. It's really nice, and you all should be very proud. =D> =D> =D>

My question is:
Does an F1 engine have an alternator? I have many pictures of these engines and I never seen an alternator,or anything similar. If yes, where is it placed, and if no where does the nececary electrical power come from?

Thanks

Looking forward to hear :D

F1 cars run alternators driven off the engine. They tend to be installed low down on the right hand side of the engine amongst the oil water & hydraulic pumps. They are tiny, but generate all the power needed for the cars electronics.
