Composite wishbones

Hi, i'm currently doing an assignment at Uni about the use of composites in suspension components. I was wondering if there are any articles on here that you could point me to that would be helpful. I've found one paper written by Gary Savage that was pretty good but it focuses on fracturers and i would like something else to delve in to. Thanks. Mark

You have to be more specific with regard to what type of information you're looking for.

Please excuse me Swordfish if I offer a post that may seem OT and I hope F1T forum members will not be offended if I refer to membership in an overly generalized fashion:

Presently there is a resistance, one migtht say disgust, resentment and irritation here, at the F1T Forum, towards assisting student efforts as a primary source for educational papers and projects, especially posts that do not list details of current work, designs,CAD files and research sources or suggest a global "void" of knowledge indicative of a total lack of any effort concerning research. If you actually participated, searched or even read the F1T forum recently, instead of plundering our members collective educational and professional experience, you would find several detailed threads dealing with composite manufacturing with only a few minutes of the smallest effort. Your question reveals you couldn't spare a few minutes to bother. It may seem amazing but a tool called 'Google' reveals a wealth of sources. You may not know that 'libraries' still exist, many libraries are located right on University Campuses, not only are open to students that can walk a few hundred yards, but 'online' catologues can be consulted. Did you know there are specific internet forums devoted to composite manufacturing?

I may sound harsh, but I am sure you can understand my distain, I have devoted a considerable amount of time and effort to creating an extensive database thread, which may suggest I have a sincere interest in assisting those students that have the interest to actually research themselves, do there own work and make an effort indicating the self self respect of a work ethic:
Engineering Student Resources
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4813
Why - Helping students that will help themselves is a priority at F1T, the thread was made a 'sticky' making it easy to locate. The thread has been viewed over 5000 times, suggesting there are students willing to work.

You may have noticed a recent thread, generally expressing the same theme as yours, that evoked opinions similar to my own, that is , if you read the forum at any other time, than when you wanted your homework research done by others.

Should you reply, would you please include the University you attend. I want to be very sure to never recommend a graduate from your institution for employment, It might be you. Every design office has a team member who is always looking over shoulders, cribing others work.

May I recommend two websites:
'doityourowndamnselfandlearnsomething.com'
'earnyourdegree.com'

You are reflecting my own sentiments very well Carlos, when university students over here are getting more and more dependent on copy'n paste techniques, rather than their own fact-findings and the pertinent understanding of the same.

Swordfish has Pmed me that my opinions have no application to his situation, that they are in fact insulting, considering he has suffered recent severe injury and impairment. Although his remarks about my posibble inadequacy in bed will have to be left to the women who have shared these activities. I must also comment that I do not retract my previous opinions on the many student requests posted on F1T. These sites concern generally related composite parts manufacturing and some are specific to your request.Glad to offer some small assistance, may I wish you a speedy recovery:

Thanks for being the more mature person here Carlos, i hope some information in the links will prove helpful to me and i apologise for any remarks i have made to you, i was just trying to vent and i did at least do it via the PM function instead of posting here.

If anyone else is wondering what my recent injury is, i was out with some friends one night and when i was walking home i was set upon by 3 gents who tried to mug me. I had my wallet and phone on me, as well as a house key which i was unwilling to surrender so i fought back. I was then beaten in the head and face (mostly concentrated around my left eye) and i was stabbed in the right thigh, a small stab in the shoulder and slashed in the abdomen.

I managed to dish out a bit though and one of the attackers had to be carried away by his two mates. Luckily i kept my phone and was able to phone an ambulance and recived a good deal of treatment. I now have attention problems due to the head injury, partial loss of sight in my left eye and restricted movement due to the leg injury. I also find it hard to wank due to the shoulder injury

You probably asked the three gents for some free consultation, didn't you?

This makes me just even more curious about where you are living and which university you attempt.

A head injury causing such severe concentration difficulty that a search engine is beyond competence must suck.

I dont know anything about composite wishbones. Only ferrous metal is allowed in the instances I know about. But I think youve been linked to all you need. So I guess I basically just wanted to make a dick comment that has no merit here.

Hi guys, my assignment is basically about justifying the use of composites in suspension components over more traditional materials such as steel and lighter alloys.

I allready know the basics, lighter, stronger, possible indefinate lifespan if used within the manufacturing tolerances but i was looking for actual facts and data to back up what i hypothesise to be correct.

We've done some CAD drawings at uni a while back that would be useful but we dont have the facilities to do any real life testing as we broke the tensile testing machine with some pieces of carbon that we made (it was only the weak stuff as well, we never even made it to the Kevlar samples  )

Information about cost as well would be good. I've read that carbon materials can be relativly cheap now and manufacturing cost can be lower than making metal components but have any teams ever offically published a cost ratio between the two.

Just thinking that being an obnoxious freeloader, asking strangers to do your work for you, can get you in trouble.

We keep getting told at uni "You have to read for a degree"

All i am asking for here is if there is any information available, or any reccomended books that i could read to gather information to complete my assignment. If you're too petty to help then would you refrain from posting in this topic, you can use the PM function to verbally attack me if you want to or to post more details of this "trouble" you refer to.
