Development stages of BMW's upcoming F1.07

During its first season, the BMW Sauber F1 Team didn't just keep on improving its performances on the race track, it also worked simultaneously on developing the new F1.07. With only four days until the Team Launch, here is an overview of the most important stages in the car's development.

Over the course of the past year, the number of employees at the Swiss team site in Hinwill has been steadly increased. More than 400 experts were involved in the development of the BMW Sauber F1.07. The initial concept work on the new car began in May 2006. Since August, the aerodynamics department has been focusing its work on the new F1.07. In September, the real work began for the construction department.

One month later, the use of the wind tunnel was stepped up from two to three shifts a day. Construction work on a new building complex - due to be completed before the end of the year - also commenced. "We are only mid-way through a two-year plan aimed at matching the power of the leading teams," says BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen.

The 2007 BMW Sauber F1 Team Launch will take place on 16th January at the 'Feria de Valencia'. The launch will be broadcasted live on www.bmw-sauber-f1.com from 9:00hrs. The roll-out of the new BMW Sauber F1.07 at the 'Circuit de la Comunitat' is scheduled for 13:00hrs.
