This is Max interview post quali. Doesn't seem like they aimed at race, he said it was a tricky weekend so far, made lots of changes, even q1-q2 wasn't good but came together in q3. He thinks Ferrari might have the better race setup.

This isn't to say Ferrari will win tomorrow, I don't think they will, but this weekend it wasn't RedBull finding race setup and then tuning for quali. They struggled a bit and it was visible.
i feel like they probably had race setup sorted well enough but a lot of trouble finding the happy was a real risk if they missed that window could easily be starting 3rd maybe 4th. That puts you in a tricky spot

He's going to be conservative, crashing would be far more embarrassing for him and the team. You can always blame a poor performance on the car, especially if you are the only one driving it

Two massive crashes in two years (same corner), little practice, and the added pressure of the teammate and chassi situation. The big leap would be to suggest that this is not going to play on his mind and how he approaches the weekend. He's human and he has every incentive this weekend to not make the same mistakes again. If you've been bitten twice in the same place you will be cautious next time you go there, it's the same for Albon. I'm expecting a conservative performance, no real results, and deserved criticism afterwards.
Fantastic hard lap in Q1, and a really solid P12 overall. No matter what happens, that hard Q1 lap proves he had no restraint like you were claiming he would.

You should really stop making so many assumptions and misunderstanding how top competitors minds' work. Making a mistake in a place is not gonna stop everybody from still being able to push hard after. I know this perfectly myself doing sim racing. Yea, maybe I'll double check myself on some non-essential laps just to get the feeling back, but typically I dont let something like a mistake create some submissive/scared situation. If you have that mentality, you've already lost and probably wouldn't ever cut it in a professional situation.

Max has been impervious, let's all pray that Sainz jumps him at the start, I mean when was the last time he lost a position at the start, against Norris?
can't remember exactly, but he also lost the start in Melbourne last year (against Russell).

Looked like Perez crossed the line when he exited the pits ahead of Hamilton. .
Always find the gap then use it.

As a Ferrari fan, this makes me smile… but a long way to go. Really surprised about McLaren’s pace at the moment, very much keeping them honest.

MCL gained quite a bit under VSC, they were 4s+ behind LEC but after restart they were 2s behind.
