Toyota introduce new nose and front wing

Toyota is working hard on a comeback and the cars continuously to show improved pace since the European Grand Prix. This time, the team introduced a serious update by redesigning the nose cone and front wing. Such a major update is rather rare these days, even Spyker did not touch the nose cone when creating their B-spec car. The upper part of the image shows the new shape where it is obvious the new cone is much lower and slightly narrower than previously. The underside of the nosetip of somewhat bulged too in order to be able to carry more ballast. Due to the nose change, the front wing needed some work too. The main plane is now lower in the middle while the upper elements are more curved and similar to Renault and Williams before they introduced flatter nose connections for their upper front wing elements.

Toyota have been putting in some serious wind tunnel time in an effort to enhance their performance. we\'ll have wait and see if the new front wing design will offer some gains in front end grip and turn in.

Is there a way to test in a wind tuneel the effect of not having Ralf drive the car anymore? :twisted:

Well they are in fact improving considerably through this season. Trulli had bad luck at Turkey but they are coming close to BMW in terms of pure speed.
I only hope that they can continue to improve instead of dropping back over the winter again.

They certainly did in the beginning of the season, but I am rather surprised about the increased form of the Toyota now.

btw: Williams go for a totally new design next year, I\'m already looking forward to their launch :D

Do you mean \'all new\', as in no parts carried forward, or radically new, as in unconventional (walrus style)?

The trouble with major departures from convention is that whilst they may have some merit and potential, before it can be honed to the point of delivering that potential, your sponsors have beaten a path to someone else’s front door.

Just remember B spec teams never go as good as the supliers teams. That is except for Honda and Toyota this year. Think about Red Bull with Ferrari engines they couldn\'t get the same RPM as Ferrari!!! What better way to lower the HP.
