Different mirror supports for Ferrari
Amidst a large number of updates brought to Valencia, Ferrari changed the mirror supports to gain an aerodynamic effect from those as well. In the image, Massa is pictures on Friday with the old supports which is a neutral element with its length as short as possible to keep drag low.
The new version, as in the upper part of the image shows how Ferrari modified the supports to be aligned with the vortex generators at each side of the cockpit.

Those are extremely technical. I didn’t image that even small piece of mirrors would really affect the aerodynamic run for the F1 cars. Maybe it will improve by about millisecond compared to its normal run.
It is great to see Ferrari trying means and ways to improve the performance of their cars. Although changing the side mirrors may not drastically improve the aerodynamics of the car, it is still a first step. Hopefully, Ferrari will be able to innovatively revamp other auto parts to further improve the cars’ performance.
