Initially formed as an engineering concern, Alta began by building sports cars before moving on to single seaters in the 30s.
After the war, Taylor built one off chassis to order for both Formula 1 and later Formula 2. The company also sold its 4 cylinder, 2 litre engine to the likes of HWM, Cooper and Connaught. After the demise of Connaught, there was no real call for the engines and the company was wound up.
Geoffrey Taylor died in 1966.
