Need help with a F1 turbo debate.

I'm having a debate with a chap about the F1 turbo era and need some help.

Main points are:

Teams did/did not run full boost in race trim, which I say they didn't.
Drivers had a "boost button" to increase boost to help overtake and defend.

I'm pretty sure I'm right about this but want some extra evidence and assurance.

Teams didn't run full boost during the race, but they did have a button to occasionally take it to full boost for fast laps and overtaking. I think mainly that it was due to high fuel consumption at full boost, and i imagine there were reliability concerns too
