Sky Sports F1 team

Post

I thought it was appropriate to start discussing this.

So there are rumors that Nigel Mansell is being contacted for a pit lane pundit job (what David Coulthard now does before race/qualifying starts) and Jake, being groomed to be BBC Sport's lead anchorman; (I think he's doing London olympics next year too?) is going to stay. There are also rumors that Brundle-Crofty will form the commentary team, with Kravitz following to go to Sky.

Anyone else?

The line up ive heard for Sky Sports HDF1 is this:

Anchor: Georgie Thompson (from Sky Sports News and Sky1s A League Of Their Own)
Pit Analysts: TBA/TBA
Lead Commentator: David Croft
Colour 1: Martin Brundle
Colour 2: Ant Davidson
Pit Reporter: Ted Kravits
Pit Pen Reporter: Natalie Pinkham (As she is freelance and a couple of her best friends work for Sky at present)

For 2012 BBC are rumoured to have the following:

Anchor: Jake Humphries/Lee McKenzie
Pit Analists: David Coulthard/Eddie Jordan
Common commentary from Sky
Pit Pen Reporter: Jenny Gow/Lee McKenzie

BBC aren't changing too much, all their team at all.

Well based on that Crofty & Davidson won't be doing 5Live anymore, that's a massive change.

I was meaning their TV teamr radio team will probably change on this basis.

However Davidson will only do 14 events a year due to his LMS commitments. They will probably put a reserve driver like what they did withb Hulkenberg, Razia, Chandhok, Wickens and others this year as his replacement.

From Brundle: Can confirm I'll be commentating on Sky Sports F1 in 2012. All races live on dedicated F1 channel + more tech features is what motivates me

I know a lot of people will face a massive increase in their costs to watch F1 next year, but as I already fork out for Sky HD it's hard not to be excited by Sky's coverage for next year. They have the ambition, budget and technology to really massively improve on the BBC's coverage. And, fingers crossed, we'll finally be rid of the painfully bad Eddie Jordan.

That lineup looks like a great start.

With Martin on board Sky will have a complete F1 package by the sounds of things.

However, but the prospect of having to pay an additional £20 on top of my basic Sky subscription just to watch F1 doesn't represent value for money, especially when Red Bull are running away with everything at the momement. I'll stick with the BBCs coverage for the time being.

I'm sorry, what's a 'colour men'? Do you mean commentators?

Coulthard is BBC's "color man," giving analysis, or providing "color," to the "play-by-play" offered by Brundle. Two color men = two DCs.

I thought Steve Rider had got the gig as anchor

That lineup also means no grid walks from Brundle on the BBC anymore, and no more Ted's GP video blog.
