2013 Argentinian Grand Prix

Post

AutoSprint reports the 3 year deal will be signed in May and take the place of the Korean GP. This will be a street circuit, but Tilke will be responsible for the layout. GP count will still be at 20 GP's for 2013.

Kind of glad that the Argentine round is returing, however id have like to see a Mexican round first, as having the last 3 GP like this would be massive:

18] USA - Circuit of Americas, Texas
19] MEX - Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Mexico City
20] BRA - Jose Carlos Place, Sao Palo

Ideally a triple header for the end of the season with a 3 week break previous so that the young driver test can be done at Abu Dhabi over 3 days. as Abu Dhabi would be round 17 and the final part of the second Pan-Asian swing.

No, please, no. Not another street circuit. Monaco has the glamour, but what about the others? Valencia sucks. Singapore is a sucky 90º corner borefest, whose only good point is that it is bumpy and slippery, making the drivers count more than usual. Only Melbourne is decent IMHO.
I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.

Well Valencia is only every other year now, so at least we don't have to see it every year. Korea can't honor their financial obligations, so. Hopefully it'll be a decent layout.

That course looks like an aerodynamacist's nightmare. (Ocean breeze)

I like it.

Mercedes should start thinking about how to get this through scrutineering.

That's a guaranteed win right there.

A Grand Prix on an ocean pier in Argentina? Why? Keep Korea, the track is nice.

Because Korea cannot pay. Quite simple. Bernie will not tolerate it. Personally I think it'll be good for South America. Plus the cars against the ocean back drop will be nice.

What are the chances of a crashed car flying into the water? :P

That and the teams are pissed at Korean customs as it takes 3 days for a teams gear to pass thru Korean customs at either side seemingly. The teams usually have special passes for customs at most countries, however there are 3 that they dont get exemptins, Korea, India and China. India is usually 18 to 36 hours for clearance, China is 2 days and Korea is 3 days.

The teams want exclusions to get gear in and out. However Austrailia has a partial exemption for F1, however parts can come into AUS freely however must be accompanied by at "Trusted and known" individual who can bring in 200Kg into the country.

i didn't ask why they d drop Korea, but why they want to do the race in Argentina in the first place and then why in Mar del Plata.
This screems Valencia.... the most boring race in the year. And this ocean pier does not look suited for F1, in aspects of safety and weather . This is not the quiet Mediterranean sea over there, if there is a stormflood, will Alonso and co go powerboating then...?

This looks quite interesting, although it doesn't appear to have any really exciting corners. At least Valencia has that fantastic third sector, even if it is single file. Perhaps higher quality images will shed more light on the track layout. At least it will be fast - this looks like Monza on a pier.

Potrero de los Funes or bust!

That would make the race even more special. We need something "different", all of the circuits are so similar and having something like this would be the icing on the cake for me!
