Inspired after seeing Nico Rosbergs pole lap yesterday in China I want to make a 'great one lap thread.'

I had initially thought that great pole laps would be a better thread title, but considering not everything posted will be pole laps that doesn't seem suitable.

Anyhow, Nico's pole from today. Reasons why I like it is because it is a very complete lap, it looks uneventful because the car was working extremely well and Nico was close to inch perfect.

Comparison with schumacher

Post other great one laps, my F1 knowledge is only good in patches for the last 10 years, I'm sure there are other vids before that time.

So that is the difference of 5 tenths! Very good video. Now I see why Rosberg is so faster than MSC in qual. Rosberg was just a bit better everywhere. Tighter turns, closer apexes, later braking and finally, believe it or not, more balls with the DRS (or was it more traction out of the turn?).

I'd like to put forth the 2007 and 2011 Monaco pole laps, and the 2010 and 2011 Singapore pole laps. And Hamilton's mega laps in Canada 2010 and Nurburgring 2011.

It seemed to be both, more balls and more traction - Brawn also said that MS let up when they realised there was not going to be a challenge from anyone else (not sure if I believe that)

There might have been differences in how they set up the car, MS did look a bit tail happy at times on corner exit, but as we seen during the race that if you run of the racing line the grip is much lower so it may just be a case of Nico having more accurate lines.

Both were very quick laps where the whole lap looked deceivingly quiet. I'm tempted to nominate Australia 2009 pole too to be honest. It was just about the smoothest lap I had ever seen, even amongst other Button's laps. It was just beautifully smooth.

Possibly Hulkenberg at Brazil in 2010? He was in the right places at the right time, and shocked everybody.

Insane lap with enough fuel onboard for a 1 stop strategy, around monza where the weight penalty is pretty bad! To bad his left rear failed in the race

Agree with alot of the ones mentioned, especially Hamilton Germany 11, and Schumacher Monaco 96. Will also add Alonso in Spain last year.

I have not seen that Nurburgring lap, once of the most aggressive laps I've seen in F1. Will have to watch it again several times.

And here is Hulkenburg's lap

I remember watching this live on the TV and was jumped up saying 'come on'... I'm not especially a Hulkenburg fan either, just love seeing great laps.

Seeing the onboard afterwards was just as good, very brave lap, full commitment, the amount of correction he had to apply that lap at speeed, whilst tethering the throttle is unreal, especially the last corner. I rate Hulkenburg very highly. I think Force Indian have one of the best driver line ups on the grid.

We can´t forget Kubica putting his dog on either front or second row at all the "driver" tracks like Monaco - SPA - Suzuka

Btw, F1 2010 and F1 2011 have officially ruined youtube when it comes to onboard laps.
Stop calling the lap robert kubica if it´s you who are playing ffs.

Could not find a proper one thanks to Codefailures but here´s one in comparison to the Pole lap by Vettel.
