This one wasn't a pole lap or even driver's best lap in the session...

...but it still is the one lap I remember the most.

I actually thought his 06 Q2 lap was better. Fastest ever lap of Monaco...

I disagree; he had a much larger gap to 2nd place Alonso (0.5ish) and 3rd place Webber(almost 1 sec) in 2005 and he only had one lap to do it (I'm talking about his Q1 lap). The 2006 qualifying system allows for 1 or more mistakes, especially in Q2, so I assume it involves less pressure for the drivers and is a bit less impressive.

If only for the screaming 20,0000rpm.

Raikkonen's pole lap on the same weekend. Having been fuelled too short he HAD to make it happen, and did, by the smallest margins. Also hilarious with captions turned on.

It's bordering on sacrilegious that Senna's 88 Monaco pole lap hasn't been mentioned here...

Definitely one of my favourites, especially considering the amount of fuel he had onboard at the time.

Although probably not even close to the best of Senna's laps, I love this video of him qualifying:

The way the car fishtails under braking and out of the corner and is dancing on a knife edge for the whole lap is fantastic, not to mention the raw power of the turbo engines of that time. The laps from back then are very impressive to watch.

Mika Hakkinen's pole lap in San Marino in 2000. Mika Hakkinen's amazing ability to pull time out of nowhere.

I love these sort of laps which start off slower than the fastest time and then out of nowhere in the last sector they pull the time back. And continuing in that line Kimi Raikkonen's lap at the 2004 British GP. Brundle and Allen writing him off after the first sector and then bam, pole position!! Great lap.

Why nobody talk about Singapore 2008 ?
Massa's lap was one of the best of the ten last years. With a car with much fuel onboard than others, he put 6 tenth to Hamilton who was 2nd, 8 tenths to Raikkonen who was 3rd, one full second to Kubica and Kovalainen.

Just awesome :

His Monaco 08 pole wasn't too bad too IIRC
