seriously its like from race to race one driver has the magic compound and the others are on some crappy all season version!

Can the teams choose who gets what tires? what about build dates etc is it all consistant across drivers/teams?

On a side note are f1 tires directional? do they come labelled like "right front","left rear" etc or can u put any tire on any side / end?

do you really think they would make a separate spec tire for certain drivers at random?
The tires are directional

pirreli have made it their duty to make sure the tyres mix up the racing as much as possible.

they seem to think there job is to create a different winner.

so they are purposely faffing on with the tyre compounds and making them suit random tempratures... or so it would seem

Pirelli is only doing what it's been asked to do by the FIA and F1. Whether that's a good thing or not is an entirely different question, but they're not acting independently.

as i understand Pirelli has no handle on who gets which tyre as the production codes are issued by FIA and distributed by FIA .
If someone could influence it may be FIA?but how and when?
Also you need not only 4 Special tyres but at least two sets ,usually 3 or 4 ....so it seems very impractical to be steered by Fia and Pirelli directly.

Cracking the barcode - Formula1

This article explains in detail how the tyres are processed and distributed for a race weekend to each team, and to each driver. Pirelli has 'absolutely' no hand in influencing tyre distribution as the FIA single-handedly handles tyre distribution for a race weekend.

Maybe is not Pirelli who gives better tyres to an specific driver, but they could build, for every race, an "special" set of tyres that can go to any driver. That should be called the "Pirellotery", and the driver who get the price, can win a race because he has normal tyres, no the usual crappy Pirellis...
