The Art of War - Adam Parr

Post

Just read it last night. Great book!

It´s really a comic-style book but hugely interesting and you definitely get to see Bernie from a different angle.

Wonder if Parr has settled the law suit against his book yet. Not heard about it going to court.

+1 News to me too, thanks.

Given that the action was only announced on Jan 15th I guess it's got a *long* way to run yet.

Was also a little surprised to learn he's a barrister - Assuming that release is legit seems he's being pretty pigheaded about it.

Poking around on this story also turned this up, something else I didn't know, my emphasis added;
Dec.10 (GMM) Former Williams F1 team chairman Adam Parr has confirmed that it was Bernie Ecclestone who pushed him to leave Formula One.

Earlier this year, Briton Parr – Williams’ de-facto team principal – suddenly quit, despite his apparently rising stature within the Oxfordshire based team and the F1 paddock.

His shock departure was met with cynicism, as it coincided with the end to an impasse with F1′s chief executive over Williams’ stalled Concorde Agreement negotiations.

The Telegraph hinted at the time that Parr “was the victim of a power play”, and the latest rumour is that he could be set to commence legal action against Ecclestone, F1′s chief executive.

At the time, Williams said Parr resigned simply to spend more time with his family.

He has now admitted in his new book ‘The Art of War – Five Years in Formula One’: “I had resigned that week, rightly or wrongly believing that Ecclestone had told my board that no Concorde offer would be forthcoming while I was running Williams.

“Under the circumstances, I chose to stand down so that the team could make the best deal possible with him. The offer arrived the day after my resignation had been announced,”
added Parr.

Is the whole book "cartoon style"?

Cheers,
Ian

Why does he need £9000 pounds from kickstarter, I would've that a CEO of a F1 team could have saved that much bu now!

So he made money on it then needs more money from people so he can get even more money when they buy it?

What are you, some kind of socialist? You sure don't understand capitalism much, do ya?

Oh i do understand capitalism, but i think a little bigger carrot is needed when you want people to finance your book then charge them for it.

Does not work like that, those who donated 10 get a book for 10. Thos who donated 17 get two books at 8.5. Each. Who didn't donate buys on book stores for 12.50 if it flies.

Probably a bunch of people pushing for a second edition, editors say it won't sell and he is not willing to bury money in it.

So if the people bugging him for another edition put their money where their mouths are he will print it again..

Or it´s maximizing profits..
Better to let someone else pay the bill then yourself.

Just because he has a higher up job than you or me does not mean that he has got the money to burn. To print copies, to do the stuff he is trying to do, it costs money, and 9000,- isnt that much of a large goal.
