Thermal camera position

Post

Why don't they provide a top-of-the-upper-air intake thermal camera pointing down and towards the rear of the side pod? This would provide a PERFECT view of the exhaust gasses, and their shaping post exhaust pipe all the way to the rear of the car.

If this is already done, or has already been discussed, please point me to the video and/ or thread.

Thanks-

Exhaust gases, being gases, emit relatively little infrared light compared to the surfaces behind them (you see in the infrared across air, not the air). So they are effectively invisible unless they are really, really hot. Exhaust gases aren't visible in thermal pics form behind the cars either.
Your camera should show the landing areas for those gases in the floor nicely, though.

Ok cool. Thanks. I wondered why such shots hadn't surfaced!
