2016 Pecking Order Speculation and Fantasy Thread

So.. will Merc lose its crown...

I think so!

1. Ferrari
2. Mercedes
3. Force India
4. Williams
5. Toro Rosso
6. Red Bull
7. Haas
8. McLaren
9. Sauber
10. Renault
11. Ex-Manor

if Honda gets the engine tuned upside down then McLaren 3rd or 4th.
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Mercedes/Ferrari....... more than likely mercedes 1 ferrari 2
Williams... Focused on 2016 halfway through 2015
red bull /Torro rosso......engine power and reliability as we sit right now leans heavily in favor of Torro Rosso.. i dont see that changing in 2016
Force india.... always seem to be on the back foot when it comes to car development
Mclaren...... i have my doubts on this one after so many broken promises by the mclaren /honda engineering team
Sauber..... 2016 Ferrari Pu and a radical 2016 car or so they say
Renault.... huge change is not always good and their Pu will still stink IMHO... drivers are meeeh
Manor/Haas....Haas may win this tail end battle after basically having Ferrari design their car lol

Hmm:

1. Mercedes
2. Ferrari: Closer to Mercedes pace though.

3. Williams: They will start closer to Ferrari, but development will hurt them.
4. Red Bull: Closer to Williams, and at the end maybe surpass them.
5. Force India: Very close to Red Bull, but aero development will be poor.

6. Renault: They will struggle in the first part of the championship, but development will hopefully cut distance to the rest of the midfield
7. Toro Rosso: New engine means they can push in the earlier stages, after that we'll see.
8. Mclaren: They will get better, but very slowly.
9. Sauber: Mclaren development will surpass them from the start.
10. Manor: New engine will be a boost. Everything else still a question mark.
11. Haas: Partnership with Ferrari is a good boost, but not enough.

The fact that, there would be sweeping changes for 2017, would make a tricky situation for Merc and Ferrari. I am not sure how much of 2016 development that they can carry forward. I would bet, it wouldn't be wise to make huge investments on A LOT OF R&D on Aerodynamics for 2016. The platform would, for most part, remain the same, but the aerodynamics is going to be another thing. The most intelligent thing to do, would be to work as hard as possible in winter and as soon as the fly away races are over, move onto 2017. I am interested to see who moves to 2017 first.

The teams should have a separate group working on 17 concepts as soon as anything is rubber stamped.
Of course if say Ferrari and Mercedes are locked in a big battle for supremacy, it will help the others.

Factory teams have a head start as far as understanding changes to the engines.

1: Mercedes (Driver struggles, Hamilton motivation/chassis adaptability
2: Ferrari (a battle with Merc till Abu Dhabi)

-------

3: Force India (More price money, Aston Martin Money, they have the momentum now
4: Williams (They are still to decent, with average driverlineup to go up)
5: McLaren (Honda will fix the ERS, Ice is on par, very good chassis development
------- (just a minor gap)
6: Torro Rosso (Good chassis, 2015 Ferrari will be decent, but late choice of PU will harm development)
7: Redbull (Transition year, Ilmor cannot fix the whole deficit during the winter, but will progress during the season)
8: Haas (I bet the Ferrari assigned engineers, will have all the latest knowledge from Ferrari

-------

9: Renault (Without Grosjean and decent engineers, they have allot to catch up)
10: Sauber (No money, lost personel, clueless Monisha)
11: Manor (No money, no management)
-------

P3-P8 (p16 on track) will be very close.

1. Ferrari and Mercedes fight, (Ferrari will have advantage in the race (not qualifying) at the beginning but might be outdeveloped)

2. Fight between McLaren and red bull (both teams have good chassis and will have done everything within their huge money and power to improve, mclarens engine simpler to fix, notice a return of the big four)

3. Williams, force India(both close to McLaren)

4. Toro Rosso

5. Renault

6. Haas

7. Sauber

8. Manor (still big gap to sauber, engine doesn't change that much)
