What is this horizontal splitter..so confused? oh wait..you mean inside the airbox right? that little black piece?
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Does anyone simply think the splitter could simply be there to control the air entering the airbox - perhaps to make sure all the inlets get a nice balanced flow of air?
Yeah thats what I was thinking it was for, but you don't see other cars with it, especially as its a problem they all face.

Did anyone tell what's that hole at the rear of the car, it should be for cooling but the place, just behind the engine, is strange :?:  On this photo it even seems to be a third exhaust

Definitely something to do with cooling of seamless gearbox (clutch). R27 also has similar outlet below rear light.

No for the Renault and Honda didn't have such a big outlet last year for cooling their seamless gearbox.

This is what I had in mind. Looks like outlet for hot air from gearbox (possibly for gearbox oil radiator, simple clutch cooling by air or perhaps even gearbox casing is cooled by air flow).

On Renault's seamless gearbox rear light is moved up, above the upper wishbones while before it was below. Where light once was now is that aperture that looks to me like outlet although it might not be outlet but on pic it looks like one.

Completely and ridiculously off topic but why does one renault picture show red LEDs and the other one green? Is it to tell the cars apart during testing? I thought the FIA said they had to be red but i suppose that won't nesiceraly apply during the off-season.

I think the studio shot is not a picture of the real car, or its an early version of the car because as many have pointed out, the back end is wrong.

As said at the launch, Renault's seamless gearbox was used for the first time on track by Giancarlo Fisichella on the first day of testing with the NEW livery. Before that they only used it in the factory and tested it there
