Another bad day for Ron Dennis...

Post here all non technical related topics about Formula One. This includes race results, discussions, testing analysis etc. TV coverage and other personal questions should be in Off topic chat.

Ron Dennis

“Following the reporting of a matter that my wife Lisa and I had hoped would remain confidential at this time, we have decided to announce our separation after 22 years of marriage,” read the statement.

“Inevitably, the process is a difficult one for us and our three children, and we hope and trust that the media will respect that it should also therefore remain a private one.

“Neither Lisa nor I will be making any further statements on this matter.”

I don't understand why they've issued this press statement; they marriage belongs to their personal life.
By making it public they allow stupid comments like rghai6's.
Let's keep this forum professional guys!
"I've already altered the deal, pray I don't alter it any further" -Darth Vader to Lando Calrissian. The Empire Strikes Back.
"Progress is not always made by reasonable men." (McLaren Racing).
"We have optimised the lateral optical interface of the building." (Translation: "My factory has a lot of windows.") Ron Dennis.-

I agree.. I feel for RD - He's had the worst season in F1 and now his marriage has broken down.

Let's hope this season is a good one for McLaren, RD and the sport of F1 we all love.

Easy tiger ... there was clearly no offence meant in that statement. It was intended as a satirical observation.

But yes, let's keep it professional.

nvm keir ...
Some people do not like (or dont know how)to take satire in the right spirit.
They just want to jump to conclusions and try to show that they are "big" men by saying that they wanna keep the forum "professional". What makes you noobs think that me or any other human being could derive any sort of pleasure from what happened to Ron or for that matter happens to any one else.

Obviously i meant no offence to Ron.

What about when you guys crack jokes on black people ? Or what is happening to Hamilton in Spain ? I dont know how to put it exactly but it is just plain humor and nothing beyond that. Dont try to read into statements when you are not supposed to.

Why is everybody considering this to be a bad thing to Ron?

Usually, divorces are a happy occasion, at least for one of the involved! :P

Like he says in his statement:

Ron Dennis wrote:Following the reporting of a matter that my wife Lisa and I had hoped would remain confidential at this time, we have decided to announce our separation after 22 years of marriage

He suggests that the information had becomed leaked before hand. With such a sensitive and delicate matter he obviously thinks that it's best to make a statement of fact - i.e issue the facts to the media so as not to allow them to speculate, cook up a story, and/or twist facts to sell a story.

The pressures of F1 have certainly made Ron lose his mind. Why are they separating? #-o I think Lisa is a very sexy lady. =P~ Someone will now have to post pic of Lisa on the Pitbabes thread.

[rant] Here in France, for the first time in History, the President has divorced and gotten married with a beautifull women from show busyness. While the fact certainly deserve some interest, historically-wise, it's very annoying to see the press trying to create a fuss about it, as they do with every other insignificant things...

You open your newspaper wondering what happens in the world, and see as the n° one fact, that an official got married in a controversial way from the conservatist point of view... Wow! That's marvellous, so there were no wars, nobody killed/injured, no political meeting of international importance, no diseases, no nobel prize, nobody drinking the tea with Poutine, no tensions in the world, etc?

Oh, yes, all this happened... But it's on page three, behind VIP's private life first, and football result then.

I find it's normal for a 12 years old girl to give importance to the life of rockstars, famous people etc. I find it's normal for 12 years old boys to place football ahead of the rest of the world.

But grown-up people really should behave in a more mature manner! :x

I'm getting tired of this girly 12 year old view the media choose to impose us as "the modern" point of view. It's not modern! [-X It's just naive... [/rant]

We wouldn't want to have any humor on such grave news! :( I didn't notice the moment of scilence being observed by y'all.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought this forum allowed free speech. #-o Yes, you may not agree with everything that everyone has the right to express. Yes, you have the democratic right to be wrong also. But, that should not cause condemnation from "mature & professional" forum members.
Please allow the "kids" to have some fun.

Please, No preaching to the congregation! :x
Thanks
