There are a bunch of German drivers on the grid as we are heading for the German Grand Prix. Who do you think will be the next German to win a GP?

By merit of the best car certainly Nick Heidfeld should take the honors. By talent some say that that Vettel is the best bet.

Some traditionalist say that Nico will put his Williams across the line first taking the checkered flag.

And by shear resources Toyota's Timo Glock must be in the race. If it is a matter of ouspending, Toyota should do it.

And last not least we have Adrian Sutil who undoubtedly has talent but isn't your average redneck appealing type of guy.

So have your say who will do it first and add some entertainement to the F1 show with your committment.

What about Michael Schumacher? He'll win a bike race before these guys will win a F1 race. If he hasn't done so already. Haha~

Quick Nick.

Robert getting that maiden win for himself and the team will make Nick push himself harder.

I wouldn't write off Nick just yet , as a matter of fact that's who I think it will be....If it isn't this season , then certainly next when KERS is mandated and I believe we will have more of an advantage because of it

That is an interesting idea. Why would you think that KERS will favour Nick over Kubica?

I understand next years car will have less aero downforce and more mechanical grip. That should make it more consistant and less prone to wind complications. I would think that this will help Nick who prefers a consistent car. Kubica seems to be the guy who intuitively finds the limit and takes the car there much faster. So the knife edge aero we have this year compliments him.

Kers should be very predictable and it is a matter of race craft to use it right. I do not see an advantage to either of the BMW drivers. They should be able to handle that well. So what are your thoughts?

Perhaps Sutil can "orchestrate" a win.

There is an issue with regards to Kubica and the weight that KERS will add according to the rumors I read , but the OP wanted to know which German will be the next to win a race , and Kubi is Polish....Kubi is one heck of a driver and very well may win again before Nick...but I agree with your assessment of the way next years regs will affect the car...Get ready for next year , BMW could well dominate it and look for the lowly Honda team to emerge as from what I hear they are front-runner with KERS and already have tested it in a car

For the sake of the thread, Nick Heidfeld will be the next German driver to win a GP.

Having run KERS in an actual race car before other teams does not necessarily provide an advantage for the upcoming season when it will be raced. Suppose Honda and/or BMW develop a system superior to that of Ferrari's or McLaren's, but their chassis or aero is inferior, where does their supposed advantage go? Besides, other teams may have already run their systems on track but have not shared it with the public, there's always that posibility right?

There are too many factors involved when designing a 'winning' race car, and having one single aspect superior to competitors does not give an overall advantage. Chassis design, aero design, efficient and effective tyre usage, etc, are what will continue to give the upper hand to teams.

But not to be undermined; a reliable package. What is the point of having the quickest car on track but failing to finish races? Many teams have mentioned the fact that at the moment KERS is not reliable, nor will it [probably] be when the 2009 season gets underway. Therefore the unreliability variable will most likely have a lot of say in how the teams stand up against each other.

So therefore KERS along with the 2009 regulations will affect which German driver will be the next to win a GP, if one doesn't win this year that is. Even though I said Heidfeld would be the next one, Vettel in his RBR might also have a chance, even if his team doesn't move up the field there are always freak GP's where the front runners make mistakes and allow lower teams/drivers to take their points, if not wins.

I never said it did , but the simple fact that Ferrari and McLaren are whining to Bernie about it rather than working on it logically puts them behind in development....I wouldn't exactly say that BMW's aero package is middle of the pack or worse right now , so I don't see that becoming worse...they are competitive and testing KERS right now...so logically I would give them an advantage it this point....how it happens next year on the track....we will have to wait and see 8)
