Quite a simple poll: which teams do you think wont be allowed to race in F1 next year? We have 17 confirmed entries + Espilon so a total of 18 with only 13 slots available.

You may choose 5 options.

Scotracer, you forgot to include Ferrari, McLaren, and Toyota in this poll. Additionally, I suspect Williams is 100% certain to be racing, since they broke ranks with FOTA in signing on the dotted line early.
It will be Max who decides who can play in his sandbox, and I fear his criteria for selection may include teams willing to make a firm commitment to the long term success of the sport. And what would define commiting? How about signing the Concorde Agreement. In other words, Ferrari may be in jeapordy.

I put all the current teams (apart from Williams) into the FOTA 9 as they submitted a group-application.

Having an option for the 9 teams only is boring. It is almost certain not to happen that way. Historically the teams have never managed to stand against the FIA and if experience is anything to go by they will not this time.

It would be better to give an individual choice of the FOTA teams. Williams I think is the only 100% certain entrant.

Haven't the FOTA 9 said they will hold together?

I can't see Williams not making it in. There is absolutely nothing to say they wont. They have the pedigree, the backing, the infrastructure, the support and seem open for almost any regulation put forward (apart from customer cars).

The FOTA 9 is an interesting prospect because it is apparent that the applications they filed are actually invalid and Max can dismiss their "amendments" with a wave of his whip-hand. And if that does happen...where does that leave the teams? We have Ferrari who have said, many times that they will pull out of there is a two-tier system, Renault saying the same thing. Toyota is a pretty safe bet for pulling out. Brawn is in it to race...and I think they'd welcome the reduced costs. Force India? The same as Brawn. Red Bull is an interesting anomaly since they are a small-ish team yet wont go for the budget cap. Mclaren may be forced with their economic commitments to the sport and will possibly have to grit their teeth at the back in 2010, on top of 2009.

Ciro...can you forward me a copy of Bibbia da Corsa? I need to check some of the prophecies...

Is Mosley preparing to deliver a killer blow to FOTA teams?
"With the exception of Ferrari and Williams, all the other existing F1 teams have put their franchises at risk by submitting a conditional joint entry,"

Nice Q&A on Epsilon by Autosport. They sound pretty serious. I could imagine:

Prodrive
USF1
Epsilon
Superfunds
Lola

to make it over the finish line.

I'm still hoping the FOTA teams will come to their senses... that said I think the top 3 in your list might get the nod... its funny, early on we heard about a tie up between USF1 & Epsilon... would be interesting if the is still in the plans.

I still think it would be great if all the new teams were told to build a car and would have to qualify their way onto the grid. I will be bothered if they award a team to a squad who puts a complete dog on the track when other teams weren't allowed to show what they have.

Well, I agree with pitpass article in that if FIA agrees to FOTA proposition it would mean other 2010 entries practically meaningless. but that article seems to not take into consideration that FOTA state their conditions in exchange of guaranties of staying in F1 until 2012. What you want to see - FOTA teams, or all the others?

I want to see the best teams, that can compete under the 2010 cap rules(for now).... and I know the FOTA teams can do it... they are just being resistant.

Actually I would be very suprised if more than 1 or 2 new entrants actually participate in 2010. Even if more were granted entry how many would actually be able to put a car on the grid even under a 40M cap? A entry granted does not automatically mean you will participate as Prodrive have already shown.

I think that the idea that the FIA / FOM would bin 5-6 of the sports current sports particpants for unfunded and untested new entrants is illogical in the extreme. Once again this is just a huge powerplay (circa 2005/2006) and at then end of day semi sanity will previal. No one really wants anyone to leave and this is all about who thinks they are calling the shots.
