2010, Under the old points system

Post

Didn't see any thread like this around, so what the heck :P By the way, I don't take into account points countback. These are just purely based on points. If they're level on points, I just put them in no order whatsoever. I will keep on updating this first post after any race.

After Bahrain:

After Australia:
Alonso - 15
Massa - 14
Button - 12
Kubica - 8
Vettel - 5
Rosberg - 4
Schumster - 3

Barichello - 1
Webber - 1

After Malaysia:
Massa - 16
Alonso - 15
Vettel - 15
Kubica - 13
Button - 13
Rosberg - 10
Webber - 9

Schumster - 3
Liuzzi - 2
Barichello - 1

After China:
Button - 23
Alonso - 20
Vettel - 18
Kubica - 17
Massa - 16
Rosberg - 16
Hamilton - 14
Webber - 10
Sutil - 4
Schumster - 3
Liuzzi - 2
Petrov - 2
Barichello - 1

After Spain:

Why? Stefano Domenicali said the same thing. Should we do over every rugby match before tries went from 3 to 4 to 5 points? It is what it is. Move on, life's too short.

Re: 2010, Under the old points system

I can't seem to edit the first post for some reason, so here're the point tallies after turkey based on 2009's points

Webber - 36
Button - 35
Vettel - 32
Alonso - 32
Hamilton - 28
Kubica - 27
Massa - 26
Rosberg - 22
Schumster - 13
Sutil - 7
Liuzzi - 2
Petrov - 2
Barichello - 1

Interestingly Vettel-Alonso-Hamilton are in reversed order, as are Barichello and Petrov. Alguersuari, Buemi, Kobayashi, and Hulkenberg lose out on points based on the old system.

Button - 43
Webber - 40
Alonso - 38
Hamilton - 38
Vettel - 37
Kubica - 29
Massa - 26
Rosberg - 25
Schumster - 13
Sutil - 7
Liuzzi - 2
Petrov - 2
Barichello - 1
Buemi - 1

After Canada, Button would've been leading, with Webber 2nd. Buemi would've gotten his 1st f1 point.

yeay points, points yeay, yeay points...yesterday they told me that Button was better than Hamilton, but today I'm so confused because now they say the opposite, how can such things change overnite.

I'm not saying Button is better than Hamilton, or vice versa. I'm just doing up calculations from the old system to show people the outcome

As I recall, the only material difference in the point systems has been:

- Widen the gap between winner and second.
- Extend the points to those finishing lower down.

This gives greater reward for winning and durability. That's why Hamilton is leading the new system. He's had 2 wins, and consistently finished (or got to the last lap in Barcelona ;) )

Why you don't use a excel graph for this?

You must have made a mistake somewhere, Hamilton would still lead the championship with 44 points after Canada. The new and the old points system are almost identical.

Edit, I found the error: You have Hamilton on 3 points ater Australia, forgetting that he already took 6 points at Bahrain.

As per the provisional results (the way the race ended, prior to any investigation by the stewards on that in-lap speeding kerfuffle,

Hamilton - 52
Button - 49
Vettel - 47
Webber - 40
Alonso - 38
Kubica - 33
Massa - 26
Rosberg - 25
Schumacher - 13
Sutil - 10
Barichello - 6
Liuzzi - 2
Petrov - 2
Buemi - 2
Kobayashi - 2

Interestingly in the old points sytem, everyone up to Kubica is still in the same order.

I'll update the points IF there is an update on the race results after the stewards' investigation. Please do take note that this isn't the thread for arguing on that incident, I'll just post the points as is.

After penalties:

Hamilton - 52
Button - 49
Vettel - 47
Webber - 40
Alonso - 39
Kubica - 33
Massa - 26
Rosberg - 25
Schumacher - 13
Sutil - 10
Liuzzi - 2
Petrov - 2
Kobayashi - 2
Barichello - 6
Buemi - 1

I personally like the new points system! Makes winning more worth while; if you think 25 points are up for grabs and you win and your rival has been crashed or taken out by Mark Webber then you must feel much better.
