Pirelli Start First Rain Test @ Abu Dhabi Under Lights

Post

So, the first wet weather Pirelli test is happening tonight, under the Abu Dhabi floodlights ...

Does anyone know where I might be able to source pictures of this in the near future? I'd love to see the rooster tails of spray illuminated by floodlights :)

I suppose if the thread title was changed to Pirelli testing (mods?) it would be just fine to post here. I guess Formula1.com would post it. They even posted Wroom photos etc

Here's a nonsense quote from Pedro...
"This will be the first time I have run in a full wet test at night, probably nobody has done this before," he said. "We did a sample run yesterday with the lights at about 50 per cent and the visibility was actually better than when it rains in daytime.
errr... pedro... not having a car throwing up spray in front of you probably made a difference. Not having any actual rain in the air might have helped too.

To be fair to Pedro, it could have been a straight answer to a silly PR question: "How did the wet night test visibility compare with daytime rain?" Then his answer makes sense.

Yes that's a TF109 apart from the fact that it has no livery and only got some Pirelli badges.

Yup.

[Edit]: I was beaten to the answer, while I was reading the thread ;)

Cooler track temps maybe? So the water would evaporate slower than it would in the midday heat.

They're testing in the desert, as it's still winter.
All that sunshine is good till you want to test wets, so wait till it's on the other side, soak the track and switch on the lights.
