F1 best driver line-up

Post

McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh has warned rivals to hopes an innovative MP4-26 and a "fired-up" McLaren, determined to win this year's World titles. McLaren lost out to Red Bull Racing last season and had to settle for second in the Constructors' Championship while Lewis Hamilton was their best-placed driver in fourth place, 16 points off the pace.

The Englishman reiterated his belief that with Hamilton and Button behind the wheel, McLaren have the strongest line-up on the grid.
"I think the fact that they're World Champions just shows how good they are and the class that they have.

"I think the fact that we have two great drivers clearly makes us a stronger team. I'm very happy with our driver line-up. I think we've got the best driver pairing in F1, and that's good when you're going into a Championship trying to win it."

for 2010 Lewis and Button have bagged second place in the championship with the third best car..
so they were better combo than Nando/Felipe no question.
And I think they were better than Vettel/Webber as well considering the car advanatge these two had.vettel and Webber did commit too many mistakes when they could only beat themselves.
Rosberg/Schumacher also not as shiny as expected and others simply not featuring in this comparison.

I think some will be better this year, cars providing. Now that Petrov has experience on all the tracks, and Kubica is already awesome, they could be very potent if Renault delivers a top 3 car.

Best lineup for the car last year was miles down the grid for me at Lotus and Sauber combined.

However the best lineup was Hamilton/Button in the 3rd best car as pointed out, Vettel/Webber were probably second best in the best car, Alonso/Massa were probably 3rd best with the second best car. Schumacher/Rosberg had the 4th best lineup with the 5th best car, Renault had the 4th best lineup on comparison with the 4th best car. Williams had probably the 6th best car with the 7th best line up, Force India probably had the 7th best car with the 6th best lineup.

Altho the poorest car was the Virgin they didnt have the poorest lineup in my opinion. The poorsst lineup i think was at Hispania as it was constantly changing at one point.

Id like to see Kubica and Rosberg together in a team, as they are just young and plain fast.

7.Sauber-Kobayashi shining at times ,dlr and Heidfeld did what was possible
9.Force India-Liuzzi as usual ,Sutil improved compared to last years
10.Virgin-Glock was blindingly quick at times die Grassi..no opinion
11.Hispania unconclusive as the car was not even as quick as the Virgin.Senna complete disappointment

For 2011, Massa and Alonso will be the best line up. I said it last year, but didn't expect felipe to do so poorly. He usually performs at the level of the car, but last year he hardly saw 6th place.
If gets his confidence back, i expect him to be closer to Alonso, since we know he is pretty fast, and thus be a part of the strongest pairing on the grid.

Mclaren's team is not the strongest, you need two qualifying specialists for that, and the drivers need to be similar in style and strengths to focus the development of the car. Having 2 dissimilar drivers is a headache.
Redbull would have been the best last year if it wasn't for the infighting.
For Sure!!

Ferrari have the strongest line-up from the point of view for team points. Sadly this is through Massa seemingly not standing-up for himself and being Alonso's tail gunner. Expect more Hockenheim style fiascos this year from the reds - it's legal now!

For the Drivers, I think Merc have the best driver pairing. Schumacher has quite obviously proven his worth in machinery of differing quality and is after title no. 8 to extend the ledgend and Roseberg is fast and keen to win races etc. The only wotsit in the woodpile for Merc is the car. Their 2010 car was an embarrasment for Merc, and was hardly suitable for any drivers champion. They will be keen not to repeat this foul-up but may be too keen and build another pup.

I find those comments offensive. ALL drivers are made of the same great stuff.

As they say: "Hamilton and Button, one car, no team".

No, no. Excuse me. I meant, "One team, no car".

Oops. No, I mean, "One car and one Team for Hamilton, none for Button".

See what you did? I'm confused now. I'll have to start all over again.

"First Hamilton and then Button"... Shush, I forgot how it was. You're making me nervous!!! I'm thinking of Barrichello and Schumacher, the BEST team in history. Every driver wanted Schumi as partner, as Andrew made very clear.

Shut up you all! Do not talk to me about team orders... there are no team orders anymore, do you hear me? THAT'S why this year we'll see GREAT teams. The BEST teams. Hamilton and Button, a marriage made in heaven. I always believe what team directors say about their teams. They are so... well, frank and brutally honest: notice how they criticize their drivers. Brutal...

in a world of geniuses ..there must be mere mortals...life can be hard.
I looked at it back towards 2010 not for 2011 of course and honestly the car and team makes the champ..

Yeah, life is a b*tch, then you die. Money is of no consequence. It's all about holding hands.

Kumbaya, my Lord, Kumbaya....

Instead of arguing, let's play a game. You know. For team spirit. I'll give you my guesses, you, please, correct me.

Who said "Lewis Hamilton is the best teammate I've ever had?". Was it Fernando Alonso?

Who said "Jenson Button is the best teammmate I've ever had?". Was it Jacques Villeneuve?

Who said "We had no troubles toward Jenson championship?". Was it Rubens Barrichello?

Who said "Ayrton Senna is the best teammmate I've ever had?". Was it Alain Prost?

NOTE: Life is ironic, genius like me or not. Prost is Button idol, while Senna... well, have you seen Hamilton helmet? That's a sign of hope, if you ask me.

Now, on a lighter note, let's make a joke: the BEST team in history must be the one of of Stirling Moss, Tony Brooks and Stuart Lewis-Evans. I'm sure people like us, with such a good memory, haven't forgot them, nor what they did, nor the excellent choices and happy faces we've seen around Button and Hamilton in their older teams. Kumbaya.

Besides, hey, who am I to doubt the words of the team-orders-man-in-charge?... erm, I mean, team director?

I'm not making this up, it's Vodafone's idea: Jenson and Lewis, one car, no team. "I think we let Garrett to do it..."

Petrov did.
There was a couple races where Hulk was ahead and going faster than Barichello too. He just didn't hold it together long enough.
Barichello was in control in 2010, but there were a few signs of Hulks youth and skill on track overcoming Rubens.
For Sure!!
