Pit stop problem for Ferrari number 2 driver...

Post

...while he is in front of number 1, and causing him to drop behind.
Anyone has bothered counting how many times this has happened over the last decade or so?

All teams experience pit stop problems at times. It is just the nature of the beast to to pit stops being a high pressure situation for all concerned and is not unique to one team only.

No conspiracy theory to be found here.

I think he was asking for some kind of statistical analysis of the Ferrari #1 and #2 drivers over the years. See if the #2 driver's stops are statistically significantly slower, after accouting for the variability caused by the high pressure situation and mistakes.

I´m pretty sure the second stop will be quicker when two drivers come in short interval..IF the guys are prepared.
Ferrari has shown over the years great potential for casino ....with tyres missing wrong tyres etc...so in Ferraris case the first one would be the better methinks..

This was probably right over the years, but it wont be this year. They don't need to be sneaky to let the number 1 driver past, they can just order it now.

this got me thinking, the Pass-gate Overtake, was quite obviously Ferrari wanting to avoid the Red Bull turkey situation. I think people read too much into the favoritism of Fernando at times

I don't know... Barrichello and Massa seem to have so often experienced pitstop problems (tyre gun, stuck fuel nozzle, empty tank, missing tyres, whatever) when they were a handful of seconds in front of their team mate.
I know team orders have not always been banned, but to keep your driver happy surely you cannot go for them at each and every race?

Perhaps this is just a side effect of the number 2 driver also having number 2 equipment and pit crew. I was just wondering if anyone is sad enough to have made some statistics about that ;), so that I can be proven right or wrong...

I think you are digging for a conspiracy where one does not exist.

Isn't the pit crew the same for both cars?
