Well here it is.

"Our goal right from the very start was to match the output of the larger turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine used by the RS3," says Tobias Moers, head of development at AMG. At just 375 pounds, the engine is also said to be significantly lighter than rival four-cylinder performance engines

Brixworth MBHPE was responsible for the 2.0 litre four too.
Dovetailing nicely with it's F1 plans.

I really really like the look of that car.

And whoever says that F1 isnt road relevant should potentially look at this car.

Other sources are listing the new hatchback as the A25 AMG. Are you saying that this AMG sedan built on the same chasis is known now as the A45? Honest question.

EDIT: Or is this the hatchback? It's tough to tell from the photo. Either way, where did you hear A45? Everything else I've seen says A25... and that makes more sense with the 2 liter engine. They at least *try* to keep those numbers somewhat close.

Is this an M1 (or 1M) competitor?

0-62 in 4.9-5.1 seconds....so yes it's an M1 competitor.

They are bringing it to the US, later this year. I'm looking more forward to the A25 though, which will be Mercedes answer to f VW's GTI. ;-)

USA will see the new A class and B class by the end of the year.

Okay, finally figured out what the frick is going on. :)

The A25 is what all the rumor sites thought this car would be called. Mercedes have now dubbed it the A45. This *is* the hatchback. Great stuff. :)

What about the pedestrian safety rating of this thing eh? I don't see a mattress attached at the front, maybe that's why it has got a huge face

If they photoshopped a Kia badge on it you couldn't even tell it's a Mercedes. But at least the woman driver looks good.

Hmm gaping big benz grill and upright front end? This is not Korean style at all, they are more swept back.
The CLS SLK SLS SL B and now A-Class all share the same language.
There is also alot of "flame surfacing" on the sides which echo the original 1 series BMW from 2004-11. However, I slapped my eyeballs on the new 1 series and my god.....is that one ugly machine. Sad as I liked the originals brave look, this goes too far.

I'm more interested in how it drives and if it will be as rewarding as the M135i. The RS3 just doesnt cut it in terms of driver enjoyment at this level, although having never driven one I'm only going by the rags.
Anyways, heres some pictures of the Engine....

Sedan version is the CLA.

Digging into the most recent news. No one seems to be sure as to whether or not the A45 will make it to the US. However, the AMG version of the CLA seems all but certain for the US.
