The way I understand it, on a "9000" rpm rotary, the rotor (s) are only actually turning at 3000 rpm. Somehow the eccentric shaft is geared to go around 3 times for every revolution of the rotor. A sports car that only goes to 3000 rpm would be no fun so I suppose I can see why they did it but rotaries are infamous for low torque. Would it be possible to gear the eccentric shaft so that it would turn, say, twice for every revolution of the rotor? Would this improve torque, if at a loss of revs?
