Lotus E20 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

No, I believe this photo comes from launch morph of E20 and R31 an this particular curvature on the floor is leftover from FEE.

You could very well be right, in which case, the Lotus launch just got more irritating.

Red Bull did the lazy launch, too, with those illustrations. But, at least they had the decency to not even pretend to be actually presenting their new car.

I think this team has learned a lot from heat management with last year's exhaust design. Hence why we are seeing all these holes in the lower parts of the chassis.
Their cooling solution seems very efficient.

If you are speaking about the holes along the floor, they have had them since at least two season back. I remember someone mentioning them as "new" last year, but then someone else pulled pictures from 2010 with the same holes. Probably R31 thread if you want a source. I also remember that those features were found on several other cars as well, but they are not easy to spot.
The speed of Ayrton Senna.
The mind of Alain Prost.
The dedication of Michael Schumacher.
The determination of Alex Zanardi.

Wrong. It's the R31. Read the previous pages. Lotus used un R31 for the two launches (Enstone/Jerez)

Focus on the vertical splitter (side view images), it's one of the details that differentiates the two chassis.
Let's end this discussion.

It's very easy to distinguish between two cars. Even in closeup shots. That's because launch E20(R31) had golden strips and actual test car has it painted in pale cream colour.

And when the colours are not very clear, like in this photo
http://www.formula1.com/wi/sutton/2011/dms1206fe207.jpg you look at the lower wishbones; R31 has ellipse shaped front wishbones (because they contain the steering arms) while E20 has circular ones (wishbone and steering are distinct)
