Red Bull redesigns tunnel underneath exhaust 23 Jun 2012

By introducing yet another new sidepod version, Red Bull is the only team that can compete with Ferrari when you consider the number of changes made to the rear end of the sidepods since the beginning of the season.

The team has now changed the tunnel that goes underneath the exhaust ramp, making the inlet much larger than it was in the previous version. Aerodynamic tests on track had shown that the tunnel was not acting as the team expected because ...

Given the stuff that already has showed up in the RB8 speculation thread; I thought it was better that a la Ferrari/McLaren, we separated the post-launch talk from the speculation.

Stepped nose..but looks more elegant...heavily undercut sidepods..wow!!

Stepped nose looks like there is a small "bridge" between the ridges where the air goes below.....or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Nah that conk is very far from elegant.....

Yep, thats actually pretty ugly!

The back end looks good, nice and tight.
I was expecting the nose to look a bit like last years, maybe a bit like Lotuses, but thats ugly! Very pronounced step there.

Is the step nose an intake, or is it a bar above the nose?
