BMW Sauber F1.09

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Wasn't there a Ferrari? Somewhere in 1994 or 1995, it originally came with a low nose, then they changed it mid-season to a high nose. There was a pelican-like hump below the nosecone.
i believed it was 1996, with schumachers first year at ferrari, the car was a disaster.
Yes, the 310/2.

But this one is uglier. Ugliest car on the grid for sure.
Why doesn't BMW change the paint scheme to hide some of the ugliness ? Im sure their sponsors would love that they could advertise the car...

imho BMW rely too much on "Albert" their computer and being in IT I can categorically state that is a huge mistake!

Computers don't have an imagination, you need a Designer with an imagination like Newey etc and the computer should be used for validating those idea's.

Well actually the white, blue and red are part of BMW's racing livery.

The white is Germany's racing color.

The blue and red is part of BMW's Motorsports color.

I thought it was Silver, hence the silver arrows?

My guess is that BMW just loves white for some reason.. All the BMW dealerships and websites are in white..

Just like how mclaren uses black, silver and rocket red.

No - it is white but they got away without painting the cars hence the silver...

Oh yes, I know. But BMW could paint the cars "better".
say if the complete edges of the nose were painted blue (and the center white) it could hide the ugly shape a bit.

Notice the blue and red lines on the very front of the car. on the F1.06 and the F1.08 they fit, but on wider nose of the F1.07 and the F1.09, they dont. Why arent they made to fit ???

You're definitely in the minority there, but who am I to judge? I was one of the few people who thought that the Williams-BMW "Walrus" looked kinda cool ... shame it handled like a cow!

The flat top is quite elegant. It gets a little getting used to like the chris bangle designs.
Cant wait for the DDD.

From what I could spot by now it looks like BMW have copied the BGP style rather than the Toyota/Williams style. Can't Wait for HD pics :D
