Very interesting comparison video.
Yes, F2012 is cca 50km/h slower on finish line.

But in this video we can also see that F2012 lacks speed in first three turns also.
But after that, as far as I can see, generaly on every straight Lotus reaches higher top speed, but every turn, and every apex, Fernando has at least 10+ km/h (one turn I noticed 30+ km/h) speed advantage.

For comparison purposes (minimum speed trough turns unless its apex):

Turn 1: Lotus 136 - Ferrari 126 - Williams 130
Turn 2 apex: Lotus 180 - Ferrari 152 - Williams 181
Turn 3 apex: Lotus 232 - Ferrari 203 - Williams 230
Turn 4 brake point: Lotus 290 - Ferrari 280 - Williams 291
Turn 5: Lotus 95 - Ferrari 103 - Williams 97
Turn 7 brake point: Lotus 267 - Ferrari 269 - Williams 266
Turn 7-8: Lotus 138 - Ferrari 170 - Williams 136 (F2012 never drops under 170 in these 2 turns)
Turn 9: Lotus 219 - Ferrari 230 - Williams 219
Turn 9 exit: Lotus 230 - Ferrari 245 - Williams 234
Turn 10 brake point: Lotus 297 - Ferrari 290 - Williams 295
Turn 10: Lotus 72 - Ferrari 91 - Williams 75
Turn 11 apex: Lotus 180 - Ferrari 176 - Williams 189
Turn 12: Lotus 113 - Ferrari 160 - Williams 111
Turn 13: Lotus 129 - Ferrari 130 - Williams 127
Turn 14: Lotus 84 - Ferrari 80 - Williams 85
Turn 15 apex: Lotus 100 - Ferrari 98 - Williams 96
Turn 16 apex: Lotus 213 - Ferrari 162 - Williams 219
Finish line: Lotus 280 - Ferrari 230 - Williams 275

Too bad we dont have Q3 laps to compare, in this video Kimi has better lap then Fernando.
Also, to me is kind of obvious that Lotus has different setup with less DF, reaches speed more rapidly but has less speed trough turns. Considering that, its hard to compare traction levels in this video.

* ofc we dont know where Fernando used KERS
** feel free to correct me any time :D
EDIT: added Maldonado
*** pretty much has no use to compare like this but oh well,... :D

The graphic is wrong. There is no way the Ferrari is 50kmph slower than the Lotus down the straight.

The graphic is clearly out of sync with the video on the Ferrari clip.

I think so too. I'm not sure if this is the same video or not but in this one I believe Fernando is at roughly 256 kph at the start/finish.

Either way it's impossible to know what was the purpose of the lap, if he was doing anything in particular, when did he use DRS and/or KERS, what happened out of turn 16, etc. All of that and you can't always trust the graphic on the screen. I know the F2012 is down compared to others on top speed, but that seems too much.

50km/h is a massive difference. Relativistically it's like a 49cc scouter against... a rock. It would create a visual difference between cars similar to what happens when a gear is not available or the engine just bursts out.

In this other video Alonso is 260km/h on the straight line. In the other one assuming the lotus sync is ok it is 280 km/h. Ferrari still 20 km/h compared with lotus.

That gap must be from DRS and difference between Qualifying and Race fuel load. Still Lotus could be 5km/h faster and there comes the 20km/h difference.

On the link with the 4 cars, the video for Alonso´s is taken from Antena 3 TV in Spain. It´s a post-production (not live) video and they do some kind of weird extrapolation using linear averaging of corner entry and exit speed. Seems that they don´t get the feed with FIA production indicated speed (as shown in the other cars)

Just don´t even try to compare speeds taking that video as reference. It´s totally flawed...

The Antena 3 qualy-lap editions are the worst thing I have ever seen on TV. The speed they say the car is doing is totally wrong. You can see that all the gear changes are done at 18000 revs (or near that limit) but the speed the car is doing is totally different from one time to another. For example, from one turn to another, the fourth gear is engaged at 120 km/h or at 200 km/h. They only know the speed at the end of the straights, and that's the only time they show real speed

Here's a video from Spain during the race where Fernando is at 280kph at the start/finish line

The car seems to behave itself, it's letting Alonso drive it not wrangle it. Top speed with and without DRS also seems very good...

His top speed is still decent @ 318 km/hr. He seems to have changed his seventh gear for the race.

Has anyone here got the official FIA PDF with the stewards decision concerning Sebastian Vettel's penalty under yellow flag contidtions?

I would like to know wether he recieved it for failing to reduce his speed or for activating his DRS.
Different race reports, state different reasons for his penalty and in the official press release, Christian Horner reports, he believes Vettel was handed a drive through penalty for activating his DRS.
