Because they don't gain anything in the drivers championship and aren't anywhere near Red Bull in the constructors. Alonso's best shot is to keep things as they are.

how is being potentially second not better than being third? let massa thru, hunt webber, make him go slower and put him in a position that fernando can pass him, and then give second back to fernando... lol it's SF, but hey... it's a boring race -.-

I reckon Hamilton's going to end up 9th. Ricciardo's too far up the road and too quick. He'd need to be doing 1:42's or very low 1:43's to catch him, and he won't have that kind of pace.

Actually they've all picked up their pace. He's going to need to hit the 1:41's...
