Hi there,

I know this may not be the best place to ask these kind of a questions, but believe me I already tried at couple of other places. On Ansys CFX and Solid Works Flow Simulation official forums, and they all turned me down.

I can see that a lot of people in here are an experts when it comes to CFD calculations, so I decided to search for a help here.

I am an architect, but also involved in structural engineering. I am complete Ansys and Solid Works beginner.

Basically I want to make a wind pressure test on some structure, lets say a simple cube, or a vertical stick.

This is a more complex example of what I want to do (it was done in Ansys CFX):

Can you help me with this? Even direct me towards some "dummies" tutorial?

Thank you

Sincerely

Solidworks has some very good built-in tutorials, try those to get you going with all of the functions.

If you want proper CFD analysis you need to have the premium version of solidworks, the "express" version of some of the CFD and FEA simulations that come with the standard solidworks license are very, and I mean very, limited.

Thank you for the reply Spacer.
On my university (it may sound strange but I entered the Mechanical faculty last year, so I still have a status of student in next few months, although I do not have an intention to study it) they have Premium version of Solid Works, so this will not be a problem.

I search this forum a couple of times, and succeeded in finding this:

Its some sort of the Flow Simulation tutorial for the Solid Works.
Is this what I am looking for?

succeeded :D

Here are the results of the wind impact on my free form roof:

I am still a bit confused if I have chosen the right parameter for my Surface goals. Take a look:

Basically I want to get the results from the pressure impact of the wind on the roof surface. So which parameter do I need? Static Pressure, Total Pressure or Dynamic Pressure?

And which its values? Min, Average or Maximum?

Thank you for the replies.
