Oil analysis for engine

Post

Hi,

I was looking at the engine oil analysis options certain companies provide. As an example this:

http://www.theoillab.co.uk/fuel-testing?Pid=12&Sid=21

I've a couple of questions and any information or help would be useful.

1. What relevance and value is this to a modern road car?

2. What use is it to know the TBN?

Many thanks

I guess it could tell you something about the health of the engine, if you are looking after a multi million dollar ship
engine it makes sense, for a car probably not so much

I believe the TBN tells you something about the number of additives left in the oil, i.e. if the oil is "worn out"
