I think front wing's lowest blade is intended to be the part integrating the (9kg? 11 kg? don't remeber...)wing's ballast, hence why it looks so thick and squary. That way they can put this weight closest to the ground than team using traditional spoon shaped low blade. It's probably better than carrying too much ballast in the nose, which is now thinner.

From the front view it is shocking how much sidepods inlet seems reduced! Maybe the pic is misleading but it looks like it have lost a very significant surface. BTW have the radiators changed?

Also I'm surprised they abandonned the concept of the thin line running all long the sidepod sides, from the podvane to the flip-up. It made sense, from a profane point of view, to straighten the flow there.

In the Front View, it looks like the've increased the negative camber to help with the neg. camber gain that was lost by switching from the v-keel to the zero-keel suspension. You can really see it in the angle of the upper and lower control arms, they are angled up on the R28, but on the R27 they are more parallel with the ground plane.

Are the eshausts on R28 taller than last year's ?? they seem to be also used for guiding more air to the rear wing

The exhausts have really changed but i can not tell if they are taller . I would try to find a better comparison picture to highlight it

Similar questions have been posted before, but I'm not sure if each team uses it for the same purpose.

What is the outlet right in front of the central rear wing mount for
I'm referring to the second post above this one, beginning with "Exhausts" in large bold print (R28 2008 Launch).

I believe Ferrari used a similar one for their gearbox oil cooler, but it is possible that Renault have a different use for it.

There must be a mistake on that picture with podvanes. R28 no longer has podvanes connected to indy-wings and the shape of the sidepod inlet should differ too... formula1.com guys are lazy

I know that .My purpose was to focus only on the mirrors-podvanes combo , not podvanes themselves . I will post a better comparison picture for this

Also the 2 illustrations R28 - R27 from F1.COM are identicaly same , except the podvane-mirrors combo and the bottom of the radiators inlet ( the inlet is much smaller in R28 )

The way the nose is starting to blend into the front wing lower ever so slightly reminds me of the very first Jordan back in '91:



That I think is still a brilliant design, of course it's probably not as effective now as it would need to be in terms of downforce.
