F1 Steering Wheel Weight

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

F1 Steering Wheel Weight

Post

I was wondering if someone could tell me what the typical weight of typical steering wheels used in today's F1 cars.
I am not speaking about the load into the wheel but the weight if you were to hold the wheel in your hand.

Thanks,
Tom M.

Hi, just picked up this thread and from the limited access I have I can tell you
BAR 03 show car wheel, no electronics etc is 1kg
IZOD Indycar wheel with no PI dash but with full paddles etc is 1.3kgs

In short depending on which wheel you have you could be in total about 1.6kgs if you include the quick release hub

The Amalgam replica steering wheels always feel about right weight wise so hope this all helps. Also please check out my other thread where I am trying to source parts for a Lola F3000 I now have
many thanks
