low power might make the speed up from slow connor slower, e.g. speed up after long beach hair-pin. but the semi drag car design make driver can push the gas very earily, the distance of full thottle will be much more longer, it will get back the time.

still, you want an high performance formula to have such little power? In America?! please think, America and low power engines dont go together that well

US need low power engine & you should. US is the country which make most CO2/person in the world, and the oil go more & more expensive, lets forget the hummer, forget the big size, low efficiency, black smoke and high power but out of proportion of their fuel consumption engine.

what car is most popular in US? not Hummer, not jeep, not V8 engine, not mustant it is hybrid car and small car.

don't make motorsports far away to the real world or it will be foul, racing must always keep relationship with road car.

and then, fast is always the only rule in racing world, there are no sound....no look...., no smile.....

in Hong Kong Touring Car Championship, there are 2 Civic FD2 tuned by 2 guys who always race on street at midnight, the cars have very good looking, the sound very good, but when they are racing, the fastest car at the same class same spec can lap them in 5 laps. who will care their good look and good sound? same car (FD2 &\or DC5), same Group N spec, they can slow like this is just a joke.

I can see where you going but it is not very well accepted in America

The only reason that that happens is because such cars are way cheaper, the recession caused the movement to more fuel efficient cars, just becuase the people couldnt afford the fuel consuming cars anymore.

Well, the Delta Wing isnt actually doing that either, how can you have an fighter jet look a like give an relationship to road cars? The only thing that is in there that is relevant was always used, the engine.

Now it got me thinking, wouldnt it be a genius idea to make engine rules as same as LMP2 next year? That would seriously cut in the costs and also allows more manufacturers.

Actually it is the Ford F-150 pick up truck which has between a 4.3 V6 and a 6.2 litre V8 engine. A hybrid doesn't even make it into the top 15 according to this list: http://autos.aol.com/gallery/best-selling-cars/

Scania, I can only assume by your postulations that you are from Europe?

In America and Australia we don't race 4cyl turbo's in anything* but rally cars and some specialist drag car classes - generally we both prefer to use V8's for racing at the highest levels as they provide the aural excitement that you simply don't get from small force-fed motors and they generally make for better racing as the motors used are all natmo's and provide the kind of high torque instant throttle response we like.

The main difference between Aus and the US in our tin-top categories is that we use tuned port fuel-injected 5.0ltr V8's with 100RON E85 (sucrogen) fuel vs the yanks running 5.7ltr carby fed V8's with 91RON unleaded and our touring cars are using real body shells (customised slightly) vs silhouettes. (witness the failure of the super tourer class of cars in the US and Aus for proof - NASCAR and V8SC killed them stone dead in popularity)

Anyway, my point is in both Aus and the US decent displacement engines with high power are required to get respect from the fans and and provide exciting racing by having a surplus of power - no surplus power = boring racing and doesn't show of the driver skills to the same degree.

I'm from Hong Kong, student of technology, so I have no history background, I only want the fastest car, I can't accept a 1 make race is the top class racing is ONLY" one make race

It just like FIFA---never use camera and technology to umpirage, they said it is history, but it's just a silly idea

a 350 bhp electric car can kill 90% 5L V8 in street legal class Drag racing

because its braking is stabled by neature stable, like bicycle, when it is go stright, it brake strage, but it still a Rear>Front brake power design, should take to won't lock rear wheel

and easy to drive is not easy in the race like this class

if the car is more easy, that means the driver can make more focus to push the limte, and it will need more skills and focus, or easier to lose control, so it is the same.

Americans want big power awsome sound and to see cars get sideways and twitchy.

The DW doesn't tick any of those boxes. The theoretical physics and dynamis are all the opposite of what makes an extreme beast of car. Indy cars are supposed to be powerful ,hard to control, extreme badass beasts with big power and big downforce. I'd like to see Indy quali go back up over 230mph.
