Question about suspension linking.

This is a rear suspension system of a F1 car
In red circles we may find that the arms are linked to the body by ball joints.

Why the Teams use ball joints instead of normal cylinder joints?

Also in this picture, I can't explain how the arm rotate because there is no any joint between the arm and body.

The "cylinder joints" you're referring to I think are rubber bushings.

Rubber bushings have too much compliance for an F1 car so they use spherical bearings.

These allow for a spherical movement without compliance.


The ones in the last pictures are flexures bearings. They work by bending a load element(wikipedia).
