A little question

So hi to everyone this is my first post here so dont please dont flame me because my question can seem to be easy and stupid to you.Think that i am only a 17 year old teenager who want to be a aerodynamician like some people here.So at the moment i am 2 year of school away to before i can go to uni.

I do have read quite alot of stuff here like the cfd thread of cfdruss and i am starting to read a tutorial for fluent that carlos posted here.At the moment i cant afford me a good cad-cfd package like the solidwork student package for some personnal reason.So i cant awnser myself some question i have.

One of those is that how does a bubble rooftop for closed cockpit car can give more downforce ?(if you dont know what i mean by bubble rooftop,go search on google zagato designed car cause bubble top is the main trademarks of his design)

So thanks alot for awnsering my question and if you can,i would like to see some animation or picture to explain me how does this kind of roof top works

this is a picture of a peugeot 308 rc z with the bubble top that i am talking about

You should really have more confidence in yourself, it would do you a lot of good in life.

And there is no such thing as a stupid question, we are all curious and feel the desire to know more. So never stop asking, since that is the day that one will stop learning.

I'd like to know the answer too because it sounds like a load of trollop!

Unless it stops separation over the rear window..

Yeah cause first of all,a double bubble roof top will be able to accomodate tall people and still have less frontal area than a normal roof top which will give you better figure especially for drag and lift.The second advantage (not too sure about this one)is that more air will circulate at the lower point of the roof instead of going over the two bubble and that mean that if the air have more speed,it also have more energy and then combined with just a little trunk lid or little spoiler,it will be way more effective than a normal roof top and a normal spoiler for downforce and will create less drag as you can see on the picture of the peugeot.

This what i come out as an awnser just by looking a little bit in my mind and at bernoulli principle and also a bit of newton theory.

Welcome to the forum snoro. I think zac510 is onto something:

Just like on an F1 car all the aero features work together, one adding to the function of another, like the flip ups and chimneys 'condition' the air stream over the rear wing, a bubble top gives a smoother profile and creates less turbulence allowing other features, such as a closed car's rear spoiler or wing to work better. because the air stream is cleaner, less disturbed. There's also the classic question - is it better to make a closed car that's profile is smoother or an open car with less frontal area - snoro - you've brought up another question :D

Edit - I can see while I was thinking about it and having eggs and toast - snoro - came up with ... just about the same answer I offer :D

snoro - Your making very fast progress with this aero stuff and I can see why you are considering studying it at Uni.
