Seeking Inspiration From Years Gone By Designs

I was looking at some old races from 2004 and 2005 that id downloaded recently. Something hit me, could you seek inspiration and more performance in the aero department from old or some not so old designs with in the current regulations.

The one thing that was outstanding to me was the Toyota TF105/TF105B s sidepod bardgeboards that all the teams have on their designs then and now. And the little scoop they was on it as the support that hend them to the car, how it could give the car additional downforce.

That car almost looks silly now that I am used to the 2009's :)

If we are talking about the same bits.....

I don't think the new regs allow those to be around anymore without exploiting an as of yet unfound loophole.

The 2009 equivalent is the Ferrari style 'mirror mounts', but I thought all appendages were banned.
