Before updating to the new layout, F1T will likely move to another server.

However, to make sure that it meets our requirements, we will switch F1T temporarily to the new server, to see if everything runs ok and if system requirements are met.

While there will be further announcements about this shortly, it is likely that we'll disallow posting while switched, to avoid re-synching the database back after the evaluation.

@JET: No, somewhere after the Malaysian GP.

@manchild: Yes, to allow you to post everything you want without F1T getting in trouble :D

Seriously, we're just going to test another host company in Belgium. We've been at the same company for 9 years, and perhaps we'll move to some place else :) (depending on the results of the evaluation)

The layout of the forum, posting etc. is very good as it is imho, I hope they'll stay the same way or very similar at least (though similar/very similar can be very subjective depending on the...subject) ? A spoiler option for posts would be nice tho  (don't tell me we already have it 8-[ )

Great! Thanks for the feedback!

I didn't get any angry mail so far either, so it's apparently not bad at all ;)

I'll keep this going for a few more hours since it looks ok.

Will change back to original server around 9:00 GMT.
Expect some downtime, as I need to prevents people to post while I'm copying the database.

Right, we're back to the "old" server.

Definite move to the server we tested will happen at the same time as the introduction of the updated layout.

(and indeed, now we're back, the old indeed feels slower)

On May 17 we'll make the definite move to the new server, along with the introduction of the updated site layout and a voting system in the forum.

A seperate new thread will be created then as well to list the most important changes and to post your feedback.
